The Pentacam HR, manufactured by the German company OCULUS, is an ophthalmic diagnostic device that enables three-dimensional analysis of the anterior segment of the eye.
It uses a high-resolution rotating Scheimpflug camera to perform corneal tomography and analyze, in particular, the anterior surface, the posterior surface, and pachymetry.
Main Clinical Applications
- Screening for keratoconus and corneal ectasia.
- Refractive surgery: preoperative evaluation for LASIK and PRK, and postoperative follow-up.
- Pachymetry: measurement of corneal thickness and comprehensive mapping.
- Corneal topography: analysis of anterior and posterior curvatures.
- Cataracts: analysis of the anterior segment and assistance with implant calculations using available software.
- Glaucoma: measurement of anterior chamber depth and analysis of the iridocorneal angle.
