Technical description

In occupational medicine, the Centerfield® 2 optical perimeter has proven itself day after day thanks to its ergonomic design, practical program management and extremely simple operation. The device performs static perimetry measurements up to 70° eccentricity, and meets the requirements of the Transport Commission of the German Ophthalmological Society (Deutsche Ophthalmologische Gesellschaft, DOG) for the performance of visual field examinations in accordance with the Driving Licence Regulations (Fahrerlaubnisverordnung, FeV) and the fundamental principles of the G 25 and G 41 professional associations.

Ergonomic design
Its closed design and light-protected lens enable examinations to be carried out even in rooms with conventional lighting. This eliminates the need for an additional darkroom for perimetry analysis. Its sturdiness and light weight make the Centerfield® 2 optical perimeter perfectly suited to mobile use, as is often the case in occupational and preventive medicine.

Reliable results
The results of the perimeter process are expressed in the form of a synthetic overview. Suspect areas are quickly detected, and the independent re-examination of the grid of control points for these areas provides greater certainty when analyzing the results.

Modern connectivity
The Centerfield® 2 optical perimeter can be controlled from a PC or laptop via a USB interface. Thanks to the software supplied with the device, this state-of-the-art solution takes advantage of all the benefits of today's computer systems, including the ability to connect modern computers to a network. In this way, examination data can be stored securely and accessed quickly.

Test programs
The Centerfield® 2 optical perimeter's recommended series of predefined test programs covers the examinations most frequently required in practice. The "Driving License Regulations" program also enables occupational and preventive physicians to carry out visual field tests in accordance with Appendix 6 of the FeV/FeVÄndV regulations, paragraph 2.1. The Macula and Glaucoma programs enable early diagnosis of retinal diseases.

OCULUS test strategies
Near-threshold and suprathreshold strategies have proven to be efficient and time-saving examination methods. The Centerfield® 2 perimeter implements these strategies for all screening programs, as well as for the Driver's License Regulations program. Naturally, a wide range of threshold-defining test strategies are available to determine precise numerical values for the threshold of conspicuity if required. For example, the optional CLIP (Continuous Light Increment Perimetry) strategy shortens the test time using a state-of-the-art method for defining the threshold. In this way, the shorter examination time means less burden on the patient.

OCULUS control point grid
The Centerfield® 2's patented projection method allows free selection of control point grids. The central visual field can be examined using functionally or orthogonally distributed control points, and grids such as the "FeV70" or Esterman grid can be used for the periphery. This limitless flexibility also means that examination grids can be adapted to meet changing needs, for example, when regulations change.

Expression of results
Centerfield® 2 perimeter measurement results are summarized in a standardized expression of results. In the case of supraliminal tests (e.g. the "Driving License Regulations" program), only a single synthetic result is expressed. On the other hand, in the case of threshold tests, all relevant clinical data are expressed in a variety of representations.
