Green-red glasses, also known as red-green anaglyphic glasses, are used in orthoptics to assess binocular vision and disorders of binocular coordination.
Features and Uses
- Filters: one red lens and one green lens, which separate the images perceived by each eye.
- Binocular vision: assessment of fusion and simultaneous perception.
- Diplopia: identification of certain types of double vision.
- Suppression: assessment of eye suppression.
- Orthoptic exercises: training in fusion and binocular coordination using appropriate materials.
Difference from red-cyan glasses
Red-green glasses are used with tests designed for these two colors. Red-cyan glasses are intended for other anaglyphic materials and are not always interchangeable.
Main compatible tests
- TNO test: measurement of stereoscopic vision.
- 4-point Worth test: assessment of fusion, suppression, and diplopia.
- Anaglyphic tests: binocular rehabilitation exercises.
